Position Details:
WITNESS is looking for Sound Designers for our computer game team. The team consists of pixel artists, visual artists, computer game programmers, and storyboard artists. You would be a part of this eclectic team.
We want you to collect, edit, and create sound effects, ambient effects, and music for a video game.
Sound will empower us to create immersive and captivating audio experiences. Each element serves a specific purpose in enhancing the narrative, evoking emotions, and providing a rich auditory environment for our audience.
Responsibilities and Expected Outcomes:
- Collecting, editing, and implementing sound into WITNESS’ Computer Game
- Knowledge of mastering dialogue, sound effects, music, ambience, and Foley
- Working with a team of pixel artists, illustrators, programmers, and visual artists to produce a video game.
Qualifications, Credentials and Technical Skills required:
- Understanding of audio technology: In-depth knowledge of equipment and software used in audio recording, editing and mixing.
- Creativity in sound narration: the ability to use sound to tell stories and convey emotions, adding to the listener’s experience.
- Capturing sound elements, modifying existing sound elements, or some combination of the two.
Internships are available in the fall, winter, spring, and summer semesters.
Because this is an unpaid internship, Witness to Mass Incarceration is happy to provide recommendations or references for all interns. In terms of internship credit, some educational institutions require prior approval before the start of an internship. It is the responsibility of the student to check with their institution to be sure they meet any requirements before they accept a position.
