Recruit at Tufts

Tufts utilizes a hybrid programming model. Employer engagement activities may be conducted virtually or in-person.

Employers are invited to recruit at Tufts University through a variety of methods including career fairs, on-campus or virtual interviews, coffee chats, as well as developing events such as employer education workshops to reach our student population.

  • If your organization would like to schedule interviews, informal coffee chats, a workshop or to discuss another engagement activity, please contact Willa Mayo, Recruiting Coordinator.
  • Visit this page for a list of current student organizations at Tufts.

Employers should review our Employers Policies and negotiation guidelines as these policies will guide your partnership and interactions with the Career Center staff and students at Tufts University.

On-Campus or Virtual Interviews

Employers may schedule one-on-one interviews with students throughout the Fall and Spring semesters. These can be held either virtually or in-person. Virtual interviews can be conducted via the tool that the employer is most comfortable using and that is accessible to our students (at no cost). These may include Zoom, Skype, Microsoft Teams, WebEx, and others. In-person interviews will be held in our Career Center in Dowling Hall (419 Boston Avenue, 7th floor).

Career Programming (tabling, workshops, employer education sessions, hack-a-thons, etc.)

Tufts University partners with employers to offer engaging programming that highlights a content area such as virtual interviewing, developing your personal brand, highlighting an industry or sector, etc. We recommend that you schedule a time to speak with Willa Mayo, Recruiting Coordinator, to discuss your recruitment goals and programming ideas for the best way to engage with Tufts students.

Tufts University partners with employers to offer engaging programming that highlights a content area such as virtual interviewing, developing your personal brand, highlighting an industry or sector, etc. We recommend that you schedule a time to speak with Sue Atkins, Associate Director of Employer Relations to discuss your recruitment goals and programming ideas for the best way to engage with Tufts students.

When requesting an event in Handshake, please specify the event along with the format that you plan to use for your upcoming event. Our team will also make recommendations on preferred dates and times for events and workshops based on the availability of a certain date or competition with other events and activities happening at Tufts. We ask that you please review the Tufts Academic Calendar to avoid university breaks or religious holidays.

Portfolio Reviews for Engineers and Arts students

Tufts University partners with employers and alumni to host portfolio reviews with students in order to prepare them for the experience once they are in the formal interview process.    We host a portfolio review for our engineering students each fall and spring semester and we invite employers and alumni to join us.    In addition, each spring semester we host a portfolio review session with our undergraduate arts students.

If you are interested in joining us for one of these events, please reach out to Willa Mayo, Recruiting Coordinator at Willa.Mayo@tufts.edu.

Networking Nights

One of Tufts’ signature events is our networking nights that we host each semester.   These events bring alumni and employers to Tufts to share information about their career pathway, industry insights, and share advice with students around opportunities and challenges they will navigate in a particular industry sector.   We have some consistent networking nights each year such as Consulting Night, Public Service and Social Impact Night, and Arts, Media, and Communications Networking Nights.   We often will have new themes as well such as our Data Science & Analytics, Start-Up, and Sustainability Networking Night.     We will share these events through our monthly employer newsletter.

If you are interested in being involved with a networking night, please contact Sue Atkins, Assoc. Director, Employer Relations at Susan.atkins@tufts.edu.

Coffee Chats

Tufts University also works with employers to schedule one-on-one or small group conversations called coffee chats to discuss your organization, opportunities available, as well as sharing insights into the application process. We recommend offering these opportunities around other events such as before and/or after a career fair as a chance to engage with your selected candidates. Coffee chats can be requested and scheduled through Handshake similar to the interviews above.

Career Fairs

Tufts will be hosting career fairs in Fall 2024 and Spring 2025.

[STUDENT NO-SHOW POLICY]: As a policy, we ask that students who are no longer able to meet with an employer for a one-on-one session or interview give 24 hours notice. This is as a courtesy to the employer and to other students who would be interested in filling the slot. If the event has started, we kindly ask that they keep their commitment as a representation of not only themselves, but the Tufts community. No-shows may result in repercussions, including sending an apology letter to the employer, meeting with a Career Center staff member to discuss next steps, or losing Handshake access.
