Working at Museums

Museums are educational organizations that collect, preserve, and present important artifacts and works of art for the public to view and study. In the US, most museums and cultural institutions are non-profits. Museums are organized by their collections (art, history, natural history) or their intended audiences (children’s museums).

You might think about working at a museum because you love their particular topic/collection type, or maybe you’re more broadly interested in public education, history, or art. There’s a variety of roles you might be interested in exploring at museums, from curation, to education, to business and marketing.
