Internship Spotlight: Maven Screen Media

Current Tufts student Maya Pockrose shared the following about being an Intern at Maven Screen Media

What did you do as an intern at this organization?
I mostly did script coverage, which means I was reading film and TV scripts and writing a synopsis and evaluation of different aspects of the stories. I also did research tasks and compiled industry news with my fellow interns.

How did you find this internship?
I found this internship through a friend. He had previously worked at the company and recommended that I apply.

What did you enjoy most about your internship?
I most enjoyed gaining an understanding of the film and TV industry from the inside. I now understand much better what production companies look for in a script, and the various elements that comprise a production that is simultaneously high-quality, socially meaningful and also marketable.

What did you find challenging?
I found it a bit challenging at first to complete script coverage since I had never done anything like it before, but over the course of my internship I improved and now feel I am able to write informative but concise coverage.

What advice would you offer to someone who wants to make the most of an internship like yours?
I would say not to be afraid to ask for feedback or ask questions; it’s how you learn and know how to improve! At times I was nervous to ask for feedback or clarification, but ultimately it helps both you and the company to be clear about what they want and how you can provide it.
