Friday Fave: Cover Letter Resources

Happy Friday, Jumbos! So, who loves cover letter writing?? Anyone …? Well, it’s not usually the favorite task in the career development world, that’s for sure.

Even if it isn’t required, though, we in the Career Center always recommend sending a cover letter along with your resume. Why?

If your resume is the feature film, your cover letter is the trailer that piques the audience’s interest. Done well, it has the power to excite the reader and make the person even MORE interested in what your resume has to offer.

Visit the Cover Letter section of our site to get plenty of tips for writing letters and tailoring them to individual employers, as well as answers to these FAQs:

  • How can I increase the chances that potential employers will read my cover letter?
  • What’s the best way to tailor a cover letter? Is it okay to use a template and swap one employer name for another?
  • Is it worth submitting a cover letter? I’ve heard no one reads them.
