Internship Spotlight: Idoru World

Current Tufts student Colin Kronholm shared the following about being a Research Intern at Idoru World

What did you do as an intern at this organization?
During my time at Idoru, I led research projects to help better understand our product’s target users. Every other day, I wrote articles about the latest Gen-Z news, trends, and attitudes, analyzing how each play a role in the shifting fabric of our culture. Additionally, I conducted user research to create, test, and validate our target demographics. Conducting user research meant creating surveys and analyzing responses, hosting Zoom interviews, and designing user personas.

How did you find this internship?
A former intern was reaching out to people on Instagram through Direct Messages to source whether there was a general interest in a product like Idoru, and I just happened to be someone they messaged. The product really interested me, so I chatted more with the former intern, which eventually led to an interview with the CEO. I’ve been working at Idoru ever since!

What did you enjoy most about your internship?
I loved working with my team, even virtually. I got to watch the company nearly triple in size, which meant I got to meet professionals that have years of experience across exciting roles in fashion, software engineering, and more. The energy and enthusiasm around the company was extremely motivating.

What did you find challenging?
Working remotely, in my experience, is a struggle for me! I tend to have a shorter attention span and am far more easily distracted when I’m on my computer working from home.

What advice would you offer to someone who wants to make the most of an internship like yours?
Working at a startup, I had a lot of agency to pave my own path. If you’re in a similar boat with your upcoming summer internship, I would tell you to think about what types of projects you would enjoy leading most — which will be exciting to work on each week, which will push you out of your comfort zone, etc. That way, you will be able to come in with ideas that will shape what your work and responsibilities look like!
