Tisch College Solomont Speaker Series: “Revolutionary Nonviolence: Organizing for Freedom” with Rev. James Lawson & Kent Wong — Monday, March 7, 5:30 pm ET

Is nonviolence resistance the most effective tool for social change? Current polling data suggests that a growing percentage of Americans believe that under certain circumstances, violence is justified in defense of democracy. Join Tisch College for a conversation on the power of nonviolence in a modern context, organizing for social justice and building a multiracial democracy with legendary activists Reverend James Lawson and Kent Wong.

How to Get a Job at the United Nations — Tuesday, March 8, 12 – 1 pm ET

Competencies and skills really matter when it comes to landing a job with a competitive international organization like the UN. You will learn how to navigate the UN system, get tips & tricks for applying to UN internships & jobs, and gain an insider’s perspective on what it takes to work at the UN. You will also hear about the work of UN associated NGOs that offer opportunities to build the skills the UN is looking for.

Spring Pre-Law Orientation — Wednesday, March 9, 12 – 1 pm ET

Join Tufts Pre-Law Advisor Dovie King for an informational session about going to law school. This virtual event is a “must” for anyone thinking about a career in the legal profession. Topics covered include pre-law major, course offerings, skills needed for law school, application timeline, diversity, etc. All class years will benefit from this informative event.

Nonprofit & Social Impact Networking Night — Wednesday, March 9, 6 – 8:15 pm ET

An opportunity for Tufts students to connect with alumni and professionals from a wide variety of social impact careers; learn about the various social impact sectors, types of organizations, emerging trends and roles at nonprofits; explore various paths related to social impact and nonprofit organizations; strengthen and build confidence in communication and networking; and more! There will be a Q&A Panel followed by open networking in breakout rooms.

Law Day on the Hill: Balancing the Scales of Justice in Criminal Law — Thursday, March 10, 6 – 7:30 pm ET

The evening begins a panel discussion focusing on current issues in criminal law and procedure. The discussion will include panelists sharing their experiences and insights on policy and practical issues related to criminal law.  The evening wraps up with plenty of time for all to speak in more detail about their careers, law school, and other applicable topics.

Job & Internship Search for Social Impact — Friday, March 11, 12 – 1 pm ET

Need tips for your job or internship search in social impact sectors like nonprofits, NGOs, education, policy, government and international affairs? In this session, we’ll talk strategy for your search and introduce you to crucial resources. So whether you’re not sure where to start, or just looking for a few hot tips, this session is for you!
