How did you find this internship?
I found my internship through a good friend who connected me with my bosses.
What did you enjoy most about your internship?
I enjoyed having the opportunity to explore my interests in all stages of the filmmaking process and learn which area fits me best. I particularly appreciated working with a small group of people, which facilitated fulfilling friendships and a conducive work environment.
What did you find challenging?
This was my first internship and experience working at a professional production company, so I struggled to believe I belonged in the space. I questioned my abilities and whether I deserved my position, but my fellow co-interns and supervisors were quick to validate each other and our individual skills.
What advice would you offer to someone who wants to make the most of an internship like yours?
To maximize an experience with an internship in the film industry, it is essential to challenge yourself and not be afraid to ask questions. This industry can be daunting, and while one can feel like they don’t know anything, it is imperative to be open to learning rather than shutting down and giving in to imposter syndrome.
