Founded in 1997, Girlstart’s mission is to increase girls’ interest and engagement in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) through innovative, nationally recognized informal STEM education programs. Girlstart’s year-round programs inspire girls to transform our world. These programs include after school, week-long summer camps, community STEM programs, and an annual girls conference. They just opened a program in Somerville near Tufts and would love to have some great Tufts’ students involved this Summer!
Girlstart cultivates a culture where risk is rewarded, curiosity is encouraged, and creativity is expected. As a result, Girlstart girls are connected, brave, and resilient. Girlstart makes girls more successful and inspires them to take on the world’s greatest challenges.
Join Girlstart’s efforts to educate and empower girls this summer! Girlstart’s Summer Counselors (called STEM CREW — Creative, Resourceful, Empowered Workforce) work directly with elementary school girls, leading hands-on science, technology, engineering, and math activities at weekly, in-person day programs in the Boston area for six weeks in June and July. Enhance your leadership and teamwork skills and build your problem solving, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities all while being a positive and meaningful role model for girls!
