Internship Spotlight: Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services (MassHealth)

Current student Emilia Nathan shared the following about being an intern at Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services (MassHealth)…

How did you find this internship?
I found my internship through Handshake during a Tufts Virtual Career Fair!

What did you enjoy most about your internship?
The part of my internship I enjoyed the most was learning from my fellow interns and supervisors! The team I was on heavily emphasized mentorship, so I was able to constantly engage with my leaders and simultaneously assist my peers with their projects!

What did you find challenging?
I was initially challenged by the fact that my internship was conducted fully remotely. However, this allowed me to concentrate on making meaningful connections virtually and reaching out to individuals I might not have had the opportunity to connect with had I been working in person!

What advice would you offer to someone who wants to make the most of an internship like yours?
I would advise them to take initiative throughout their internship to build networks of support and professional connections! During my internship, I chose to coordinate a weekly meeting for the interns on my team where we could ask questions, contribute to ongoing projects, and foster a remarkable sense of community. Our weekly meetings ended up being one of the most rewarding components of my internship this summer!
