Responsibilities:
The Grant Assistant will be responsible for varied tasks related to the post award administration in Sponsored Programs Accounting.
Set-up and maintain grant awards in the Workday System. Ensure internal records are created and all required documentation is up-to date. Communicate account creation and updates with the relevant parties (A/P, Department, PI, SPA, etc.). – 30%
Update and maintain grant reporting schedules. Communicate with SPA/PI/Departments concerning report status (upcoming, due, delinquent). – 20%
Reviews current awards for proper assignment of fringe benefits and facility and administrative costs, ensures start & end dates are recorded correctly for each project, and reviews all projects for any deficit spending. Follow up with the appropriate parties for any problem resolution. – 20%
Responsible for overseeing the grant closeout process. Communicate with the relevant parties the status of ending grants (upcoming, 90 day, closed, etc.). Ensures all deliverables are met and projects are closed out in Workday. – 15%
Assist with special projects as assigned and provide assistance to SPA team members as needed. -15%
Education & Work Experience:
BS/BA/equivalent required
1-3 years of finance, accounting or grant administration experience, preferably in an academic or research environment.
Additional Requirements:
Solid understanding of federal/University grant operations and knowledge of relevant sponsor regulations.
Strong computer skills, particularly analytical skills, strong attention to detail, ability to manage/prioritize multiple projects.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Experience with Workday Finance/Grants preferred.
