Commitment: 10-20 hours/week (flexible hours) starting in August 2023 ending in May 2024
Compensation: Unpaid
Reports to: Leah Berkenwald, Director of Health Promotion and Wellness Initiatives
Location: Brandeis University is located in Waltham, MA, with easy access to the Commuter Rail. The Health Promotion Graduate Assistant will need to come to campus for in-person events, but may complete administrative work remotely.
The Office of Health and Wellness Promotion (HAWP) coordinates wellness promotion efforts across campus and provides strategic direction for health promotion and prevention at Brandeis. HAWP’s mission is to support student health and wellness through evidence-based promotion and prevention, including harm reduction, environmental strategies, health communication, peer education, and more.
Primary Responsibilities: The Health Promotion Graduate Assistant will have a significant role in wellness programming at Brandeis. They will provide support to the Director in developing, implementing, and evaluating programs and events.
Potential projects include:
- Co-supervision of the Bridge to Wellness (BTW) peer educator team
- Social media and health communication
- Coordinate health and wellness programs and events
- Facilitate group sessions to build connection between students
- Coalition building via the Wellness Programmers Committee, which brings together departments across campus to collaborate on wellness programming
- Teach workshops to various student audiences on topics including alcohol and other drugs, stress management, sleep, etc.
- Develop e-learning courses and training
- Data analysis
- Program evaluation/assessment
- Other projects assigned according to the Graduate Assistant’s skills and interest
The following skills and qualifications are preferred:
- Familiarity or experience in the field of college health promotion or student affairs
- Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment
- Flexibility and adaptability, ability to work effectively while remote
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong communication and presentation skills
