Position Summary
The primary goal of the multimedia specialist is to ensure that all courtroom equipment is working, set up monitors and other equipment in courtrooms as needed and that all computers are cleared of digital evidence after a trial concludes. The media specialist assists prosecutors with editing and playing proprietary video files, operating courtroom presentation projections and software, and is responsible for the extraction and preservation of surveillance video data. The multimedia specialist provides courtroom testimony in hearings and trials concerning steps taken to collect and edit video evidence as needed.
Responsibilities
- Take in and review digital evidence requests from local police agencies.
- Intake of digital evidence by entering in the office’s MONSTER database.
- Forensic extraction of DVR data using DVR Examiner
- Creating video clips or still images using Axon Investigate and Adobe Photoshop.
- Redacting interview video using Avid Media Composer or Adobe Premier
- Redacting and/or blurring body cam video for public records requests (Often graphic images on these)
- Enhancing surveillance video, license plate and/or vehicle identification using Axon Investigate, Adobe Photoshop or Avid Media Composer.
- Assist State Police detectives assigned to the office with processing phones and other digital evidence as needed.
- Meeting with prosecutors to assist with demonstrative exhibits and/or presentations for trial.
- Assisting prosecutors with any challenges they may have opening files, or playing surveillance or interview video in court.
- Maintain the office’s projectors and AV equipment in court.
- Transcoding proprietary video using Axon Investigate or FFMPEG.
- Enhancing audio from various video files.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- Knowledge of Axon Investigate, Adobe Photoshop or Avid Media Composer
- An interest in the public sector, the work of the MDAO, and an overall understanding of the state criminal justice system
- The sensitive and confidential nature of our work requires strong personal character, integrity, judgment, and maturity
- Ability to work well in a high pressure environment with multiple concurrent priorities while maintaining a high level of quality
- A valid Massachusetts driver’s license, as limited travel within the Greater Boston area and across Middlesex County will be required from time to time
Computer skills
Proficient in MS Word, Adobe Photoshop, Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premier
Salary
$55,000 plus benefits package

The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office provides the ability to accrue up to two weeks of paid vacation leave per year, up to 3 personal days of leave per year (depending upon the quarter of the year that one’s employment begins), 12 recognized state / federal paid holidays, and the opportunity to accrue up to 9.375 hours of paid sick leave per month.
