>> My name is Cedrick Dickson [assumed spelling]. I go to Georgia Southern University here in beautiful Statesboro. I am a psychology major. I graduate in May. I have been here for three years, and it has been the best three of my college career. I had no idea really of what I wanted to do with my major, so I figured I would just change majors. So I was talking to my academic advisor, and she said, okay, hold your horses. Let's go to career services. So I went down there, and then I met with my career advisor. I was in her office every week. We sat down. We really just thought about what was best for me. So once we did that, we went to resume builder, got my resume on point, then I did my mock interviews, just preparing for the career fair because once I got in the door, she was like, okay, you're doing well. Now let's get ready for the next step, which is going to be the career fair. So the direction I'm in now is basically developing myself as if I'm in business. You got to think of yourself as an investment, and the first investment you made was stepping into college, applying for college. So you cannot stop investing in yourself, so then you step into career services. And they're going to build you into the person who you really need to be to be a leader, to be an asset to any company. So I've been putting myself in those shoes to really promote any business that I can help or any business that I try to attach myself with. Career services helped me develop those skills. So once I interact with a recruiter or any kind of person that I want to partner with, I have confidence. I know my skills, and I know what I can bring to the table. Which I think that also goes back to my psychology background, and that's where I was confused about. And that's what my career adviser taught me. She said, hey, man, you've got a lot of skills so don't minimize yourself. Don't think of yourself as just one direction. Broaden your horizon. You can really take on any target or any obstacle -- any obstacle that comes your way. You can handle them. So you got to build yourself up as a brand. Invest yourself so when you meet those recruiters, you're saying, hey, this is the brand that I built. This is the attributes I can bring to your company. I'm an asset to your team. I'm going to invest in you as you will me. And before career services, I never thought of myself as that. I just figured where could I go? Who will take me? But after career services, I figured, well, I learned that I am an asset to a team. I've been in college four years. I understand. I can regurgitate information. I can obtain knowledge. I've got confidence in myself, and we just kept going from there.
