🌻 Happy Black History Month

Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history. Also known as African American History Month, the event grew out of “Negro History Week,” the brainchild of noted historian Carter G. Woodson and other prominent African Americans. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month. Other countries around the world, including Canada and the United Kingdom, also devote a month to celebrating Black history. Read more about Black History Month.

At Tufts, The Africana Center is one of eight identity-based centers within the Division of Student Diversity and Inclusion and has been at Tufts for more than 50 years. The Africana Center provides access to academic and social resources and a wide range of activities for students of African descent. The Center celebrates black history with programming during Black Legacy Month. Learn more about our Africana Center and our 8 identity-based centers.

We have put together some resources for employers as you consider planning events within your organization throughout the month of February.

Three Questions With a Recruiter

Calling all Campus Recruiters! We would like to feature a regular blog series on our website called “3 Questions with a Recruiter,” an opportunity to demystify the application/interview process with students and share tips with students about applying to your company’s roles.

We will feature your answers on our website in the form of a blog post, along with any active job postings for your company that are in Handshake. This will be a great way to feature your openings and highlight your company. We look forward to receiving your responses.

To answer our three questions please complete this form:

1. How can candidates stand out on their applications?

2. What should a student do to be set up for success at your company in the first 90 days?

3. What is a best practice for a candidate following up with a recruiter at your company?

4. If there is an alternative question you would like to answer, please write the question, and answer below.

Thank you for taking the time to complete this form! A member of the employer relations team will follow-up with you prior to publishing a blog post with your answers.
