Our Vision

That every Jumbo is prepared for a lifetime of fulfilling career opportunities.

DEIJ Statement

The Tufts Career Center is aligned with the larger Tufts community in its goal of being an inclusive and antiracist organization. At the heart of our work is career education that purposefully integrates principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, sense of belonging, and anti-racism into all facets of our activities with students, alumni, parents and families, faculty and staff, employers, and partner organizations. As career practitioners, we understand that economic advancement is imperative for having access to gainful employment which includes achieving economic justice for all, including underrepresented populations. We strive to deconstruct the systemic barriers that have kept underrepresented groups marginalized in career advancement. We see career development as a means to challenge historical oppression. Through thoughtful practices and policies, including continuous learning for staff as well as employer education and accountability, we strive to provide career access for all.

Vision: We hope to empower students and alumni, educate for advocacy, aim for justice, and inspire belonging.

Tufts University Land Acknowledgement

Tufts University’s Medford/Somerville campus resides on the colonized homelands of the Massachusett tribe, whose name describes the place visible from the Great Hill, today referred to as the Blue Hills that lie south of Boston. The Massachusett came into contact with the Nipmuc to the west, the Pawtucket to the north, and Wampanoag to the south, related peoples who shared mutually intelligible languages. As an institution that benefits from the ownership of land once inhabited and cared for by Indigenous communities, Tufts has a responsibility to recognize this history and cultivate relationships with the descendants and nations who represent the original peoples of what is now eastern Massachusetts.
